Scratch board
1. Describe the subject matter and meaning of your artwork.
I love taking pictures, back when I lived in Denmark I had a friend who has a horse, so I took a lot of pictures of him. It has a meaning because it is a memory from when I lived in Denmark.
2. How did you use textures to enhance your picture?
I used more white where I wanted highlights. I used texture to make it look more realistic.
3. How did you balance your artwork and create a well-organized composition?
4. How did you imply movement in your drawing?
The hair of the horse is moving in the wind.
5. How could you improve your artwork?
I actually don’t feel like it needs improvement, maybe I should have made the eye a little bit bigger.
6. How did you demonstrate a wide range of shading values?
I made sure to leave some black left and then some placed only make it a little bit white and other places more white.

Value portrait
1. Explain the process you went through to develop your drawing.
First I learned how to draw all the facial features and the I developed four different portrait ideas, I chose of them and started drawing.
2. Explain how you found the different values in the portrait?
I looked at a picture of myself and saw where the highlights were and and the shadows.
3. Did you achieve a full range of the different values within your portrait? How?
I will say I tried my best, it can be a little hard with pencils but I think I achieved an okay full range of values. I have some highlights and shadows.
4. Describe your craftsmanship. Is the artwork executed and crafted neatly?
I think it is crafted neatly. I spent a lot of time on planning this and I spent on each features.
5. How were you able to capture your look?
I don’t think it really looks like me that much. The lips look kind of like mine. but it was really hard to make it look like me.
6. Explain how you made sure you had correct facial feature placement.
We learned how and where to place the facial feature in the beginning of this assignment. I used that to place the nice, mouth and eye, and i also looked at the picture of myself.
7. Explain the importance of learning how to draw all the features individually.
It is really important to know how to draw the facial features, if you don’t know how to do each of them, it is going to look really bad. I was surprised about how little I actually knew about how to draw each facial features.
8. What part of this unit was the most beneficial and why?
I like think I improved on how to draw noses, it is really hard but I feel like I am way better now than I used to be.
9. List any obstacles you had to overcome and how you dealt with them.
I had some problems with the eye and the eyebrow. I practices a little before I did the final and I think it turned out pretty good.

Egg drawing
We drew eggs using pastel colors
Opacity
- Describe the craftsmanship of your drawing. (Is it neat and well executed?)
- Describe how your background choices help unify the three artworks and tie them together as one piece of art.
- Describe your choice of colors/color harmonies and how you used them throughout the artwork.
- How did you create contrast in your drawing?
- How did you use textures, highlights and shadows to enhance your artwork?
- Why did you choose a particular background color to mount your artwork?
- Discuss the importance of understanding the media (prisma or pastels) and acquiring the skills necessary to create a successful project.
- Describe any difficulties you had creating your drawing and what you could do to improve your drawing?
Look at that view
1. Describe how you created an interesting point of view? Was it successful? Why or why not?
This was a picture I took like a year ago in Savannah in SC. I think it is interesting because there is some beautiful colors in the buildings. I think it turned out okay, I could have made some more details, but it was really hard.
2. Why is it important to understand perspective and how to draw it?
If you do not understand how perspective works, your drawing is going to look weird. For example if you are drawing buildings that are getting smaller and smaller, you have to know how to do it for it to look realistic.
3. How were the colored pencil exercises important in the success of your piece?
This drawing would not have been the same if I had done it in pencil. What I like about the picture is the colors in the buildings.
4. Describe the craftsmanship of your colored pencil. What techniques were used? (How well the project is technically crafted).
I think it could have been a little better, it was hard to really get the colors to stand out.
5. Were you able to achieve depth by showing a foreground, middle ground and back- ground? Explain.
Honestly I don’t really think so, I don’t feel like there is more than 1 layer in my drawing.
6. Explain your experience with colored pencil and the project in general. What were the obstacles and advantages?
I have never used colored pencil that much. We practiced by drawing a fruit or a veggie. We learned that it is important to mix a lot of colors together.
7. Looking back on the progression of this project what skills, techniques or other information would you like to have been taught? Do you feel you were prepared for this project?
I feel like I am not good at using colored pencil and maybe I shouldn't have chose to do this drawing. It was kind of hard because the buildings were the same colors. Like one was just yellow and another one was just red, so it was hard to mix the colors.

Fruit drawing
In this practice we tried using prisma colors. First we drew some shapes so we could practice how to shade and kind of get a feeling of the prisma colors. Then we drew either a fruit or a vegetable.
Perspective practice drawings
In this assignment we learned how to draw different perspectives. We had to follow some videos.
Still life
1.Describe the craftsmanship of your drawing. (Is it clear, clean edges, blended well, smudges, defined space, etc.)
There is a lot of defined space in my drawing, but not too much. I think it is blended pretty well, maybe I should have added a little more value.
2. Are your values and shadows realistic? How many values did you include? How and why are values important?
I think it looks alright, I had a hard time really making the shadows and the values. I used a picture I took of the still life to see where I should add shadow and value. Value is important because it adds depth to your piece and it makes it look more realistic.
3. Is there a clear source of lighting?
It is not very clear I would say. I could probably have shown it better.
4. How important were the compositional sketches? Explain.
They were really important. They helped you choose the best angle and how zoomed in you wanted the drawing to be.
5. How is your final drawing successful?
I think the painting brushes are really successful, I like the value I put into them. I also really like the shoes. I think they look realistic.
6. Are the proportions, structure and perspective of the subject correct?
The proportions are really similar to the subject. I used to picture I took to place everything as good as I could.
7. Does the placement & grouping of objects create a pleasing arrangement (composition)?
Yes I think it does. There is a lot going on but not too much. There is still the space in the background that is just white.
8. Is there a center of interest and is it well located?
I will say the center of interest is by the painting brushes. they are located alright. I should have moved them a little bit to either side.
9. How well did you manage your time and resources throughout the process of creating this drawing? Do you see where you could improve in this area?
I got it done in time; maybe I should have spend a little more time on adding more value to the drawing.
10. What challenges did you encounter during this project and how did you overcome them?
It was hard to place all the items and make it look like the real still life. I was also struggling a lot with the values.
11. What have you learned drawing a still life?
I have learned that it takes a really long time to add value. I learned that it is really important that the proportions are correct, because if they aren't, it is going to look weird.

Fabric drawings
In this assignment we learned how to draw fabric and all the different techniques. We drew one in charcoal, one in pencil and one in white.
Ribbon drawing
We practiced how to shade using a white colored pencil. We drew a ribbon and it’s shadow.
White value chart
We learned how to work with different white medias. We used a charcoal stick, a charcoal pencil and a white colored pencil.
Shading practice drawings
In this assignment we learned to to shade different forms of shapes. We started out by doing a sphere and then we watched a video about how you actually do it, and the second one turned out way better.
Final contour drawing (Used the practice drawing)
Did you use a fluid line? Explain how is this evident?
I did use a fluid line, you can see it in the bricks on the wall, they are not perfect, but I did my best.
2. Explain how your knowledge and creating practice studies with contour line contributed to the success of your piece.
I heard about contour line in this class and did not know anything about it before that. The practice drawings helped me a lot to understand what a contour line is, and in what way you best possible use it.
3. Describe the difference in your contour line drawing to an outline drawing.
It is way harder to make a contour drawing. You can’t lift your pen from the paper, which means that the drawing is one big line. If you make a mistake you can’t erase it or go back and redo it, you just have to continue.
4. Explain how your interpretation of line is essential in capturing the look of the room.
It is important that you don’t go over the same place too many times and make too many lines.
5. What did you learn from completing this drawing? If you could recreate your piece what would you do differently to enhance the final outcome?
Well I learned that it is really hard to do a contour line and that it takes a lot of work. You have to be good at looking at an object and then draw it exactly how it is. If I did this again, I would probably just try and practice a lot more before I do it.

Contour drawings
In this assignment we drew two contour drawings. A bag pack and a shoe
Hand contour drawing
In this assignment we had to draw 3 blind contour drawings of our hand and 3 modified contour drawings. It was really hard, even when you could look at the paper.
Practice drawings
In our first project, we were to show our drawing skills by drawing an animal, a tree in a landscape, a hand and a street scene.
